Rating what IMHO are the top 10 difficult FPS Games

I don't do posts like this often, but when I do I like to cover them in great detail.  I have played over 80 FPS Games, and many of them have turned out to be ones i can easily beat, but these top 10 ones are insanely hard in many ways.  This is a post ranking the top  hardest 10 FPS games I have played.

Before I begin, I would like to say a few things. These were ranked by their easiest skill only. I didn't do this on the hardest skill, because I never really play on the hardest skill unless I want an extreme challenge, and to me ranking them on their hardest skill is not a good measuring stick compared to doing it on easy, because I find that a lot of FPS games have brutally difficult easy modes these days.  And back in 1998 or so it started to really get notice able with the release of Half Life that easy mode would not be easy anymore.

10: Quake 1

This game is NOT easy and you find that out really early in the game if you dare to play it on  The enemies do a lot more damage than in doom, are far harder, weapons are noticeably weaker than in doom, health is less common and ammo is rarer and you can't pick up as much. That sums it up. Is it fair, sure, but it's a lot harder than games before it.

9: Doom 2

Why is doom 2 on this list. Normally it should not be anywhere near a list of hardest FPS Games, but thanks to it's addon levels, which lean forward rediculous SLAUGHTERMAP gameplay, you get this on the list for it's custom maps only. Stuff like Hell Revealed, Alien Vendetta, Sunder, etc is so hard that it makes the original game look 1/50's as hard.  Massive hordes of medium strength miniboss monsters, huge numbers of revenants, limited health, archviles in big numbers, sometimes even in hordes, cyberdemons being used a lot per level, etc, these kinds of maps push this game beyond Quske 1 in difficulty, but not by much, because even they pale in comparison to the heavy hitters. What makes this only 9 is mods though, with the right mods these maps are far easier, so it is still only slightly harder than quake 1.

8: Hexen

This game is mean. It has a mean streak. Mean traps everywhere, some of them death traps, bottomless pits, crushers that are almost impossible to avoid, extremely confusing puzzles, etc. This game is actually a lot harder than the Doom Games. Heretic is not that hard but hexen sure is!

7: Descent / Descent 2.

This game is fucking hard.  Enemies are very mean, the level design is mazey as hell and gigantic, and it has this crazy "you must blow up the level and escape before the countdown runs out" mechanic. Combine that with hard enemies, limited health/shield, limited lives, and such, and you get one hard game.

Descent 2 is even harder, with nasty enemies that can navigate the mines better than you can and some steal your weapons! It is even worse when you factor in the thief bots in this game.

Weirdly, Descent III is nowhere as hard as the first 2. It is strange, as the enemies are easier to deal with, the thiefs are nerfed a lot and the end game is the only really hard part.

6: Hexen 2

This game is actually FAR harder than hexen 1. Why? Harder enemies and weaker weapons might be what you think would make this game harder, but actually the puzzles are the main reason. First 2 hubs are no harder than the first 2 hubs of Hexen 1, then it gets crazy with over the top puzzles like the tic-tac-toe puzzle and similar in hub 3. Some of these puzzles require you to find hints in other levels that are very hard to find out, or are hidden. Some don't even have a hint! Or a good one. Combine that with hard combat and you have a frustrating experience.

5:  Jedi Outcast

This sequel to Jedi Knight is brutally hard. What makes it hard. Insanely weak weapons, plus brutally difficult snipers that have no signs to tell you where they are, stealth missions, unfair gameplay, you name it.  It starts bearable, but as soon as you reach nar shaddaa it gets insanely hard instantly fast.  The damn snipers in that mission are a bitch and your sniping weapon sucks and unzooms when you try to dodge them.  And that is the only gun that works well on them to make it worse. And to make it worse, they keep on coming in bespin too, and by the time yo.u reach the cairn they are gone, only to be replaced with insanely hard force power puzzles and stealth missions. This one is brutal and unless you like extreme difficulty, avoid it.

4: Serious Sam

Serious Sam is the one exception to the rule on this list. All other high-tier  games on this list have insanely hard easy skills.  But Serious Sam is the one with a pathetically hard super easy skill, but as soon as you crank it up to easy it becomes insanely hard. So if you want to beat it you need to be able to get lucky. It relies on horde combat,  tons of enemies that do lots of damage in battle arenas,  mean placement of enemies, enemies spawning behind you, sniping you, etc to provide insanely hard gameplay. This one is often called brutally hard, and for good reason

3: Half Life

This game actually is the weirdest one on this list due to how easy the beginning is. The beginning before we've got hostiles is easy as pie and the aliens pose almost no threat, but as soon as the grunts show up it becomes brutally hard.  The grunts are so fucking difficult it's not funny, they are intelligent but that's not what makes them hard, it's how much damage they do! Their damage is insanely unbalanced for easy. The grunts go away for one chapter, but as soon as they come back in powerup it gets insanely hard, and then there are the two grunt fest chapters which are insane (On a Rail and Surface tension).  Good luck beating this game on easy, I did it but I got lucky.

2: Deus Ex

This game is marketed as a stealth game, and if you play it that way, it might be easy, but if you try to run and gun through it, it's insanely hard. I found a way to mostly do it and beat it that way, but it all depends on how much skill points you put into gun skills.  And it gets brutally hard later on. Around Paris it is so hard that you need to be stealthy or lucky to beat it   Don't get me started with the save tiffany mission, that is brutally hard as well.

1: STALKER : Shadow of Chernobyl

The hardest FPS I've ever played by far. This game makes Half-life and Deus Ex look easy. Mean traps and anomalies, insanely hard soldiers, limited health, guns that are a bitch and don't fire straight, enemies that can head shot kill you from a distance, etc, this thing is downright mean.  I had to reduce damage to the player to even beat it fairly.....

Quake 1 Mod Review : Small Mod Compilation (SMC)

I thought randomizer mods for quake were rare. I was wrong. A long time ago I played the excellent quake 1.5 mod for dark places. That mod has randomizer mod features and new enemy models.  It borrows heavily from other mods however, and one of them is called SMC. SMC has the same enemies as Quake 1.5 and has the same reskinned models. The models come from a mod called Arcane Dimensions so it's not entirely original but I don't care much about that. All I know is that SMC may be the best randomzer mod for quake.

SMC requires dark places. For a while I thought I never could run it but it turns out darkplaces has a software renderer that ran fine on my machine. So I played SMC in it with the renderer on and played 7 maps to see if I would get the dreaded lockups and did not (my system cannot handle opengl rendering for some odd reason).  The mod ran fine with only some slowdown.

SMC features a lot of new enemies, some of them from the Quoth mod, others are from arcane dimensions. You will fight enforcer varieties from quoth such as defenders, pyros and eliminators plus a lot of new enemies from arcane dimensions that I am not familiar with, but most of them come from hexen 2. They randomly replace enemies in maps and that is great, and this mod works with any ID1 Compatible map, which is also great.

I tried it with ikspq5 to test out the software renderers framerate and to see if the randomizer mod would break the final room like EXQ did and it did not.  Which is a relief.  That helps this mod become a lot more fun because the maps where enemies get killed to progress will work right 100% of the time.

I recommend this mod, even if you play it in software, it's got a few nasty graphics glitches in software, but besides that it's fine.

Quake 1 Mod Review : Execution (EXQ)

It's not often you see gameplay mods for quake 1. Usually gameplay mods are for games that have insanely good features in their ports that allow for gameplay mods to be made, such as decorate scripting in zdoom. Without features like decorate, it's impossible to make a very good gameplay mod. Yet the author(s) of EXQ managed to do so.

Execution (which I will call exq from now on) is a randomizer mod for Quake 1. Yes that's right, Quake finally has a randomizer mod.  It's not the first technically, as the excellent mod Quake 1.5 had randomizer gameplay too, but it's the first one that is well balanced and doesn't require a monster sourceport like dark places. That means a lot for me, as I cannot even run opengl games anymore without breaking my system. And since my Randomizer mod  that I made was made was so unbalanced that it could not be beaten on easy, it doesn't count.

Execution has 2 difficulty settings. On easy no enemies but dogs get replaced by enemies, which makes it useless. Hard makes  every enemy get replaced by the hardest enemy it can possibly be replaced by in all instances, making it insanely hard (we're talking about hordes of mega enforcers in e1m1 here). That means medium is the only difficulty you should play in this, as it has the most fair replacers put in.

Throughout the game enemies will get replaced by new enemy types randomly.  Some are common, some are not. Each Enemy can be replaced by at least 2 new enemies.  Grunts get replaced by enforcers and fast moving grenade grunts, enforcers get replaced by mega enforcers from Zerstorer, Scrags get replaced by green scrags taken from Soul of Evil and super OP versions of them that shoot spike mines at you (!), Ogres get replaced by super OP cluster grenade shooting flaming ogres, Knights get replaced by very OP statue knights that require nails to kill and are totally impervious to shotguns, that makes this mod harder than normal quake by far.  You end up saving up a lot more nail ammo due to it. Death Knights get replaced by this super OP death knight varient that shoots nails at you. So far that's all I have seen in the mod. I have not seen the new fiend variant, or the new shambler yet. Nor have I seen the cyberdemon that shows up.

The mod has a very quirky weapon system. The default shotgun is replaced by an infinite ammo super shotgun, and the nailgun wastes no ammo until you upgrade it. I don't know how to find such upgrades but I assume picking up weapon pickups MIGHT trigger the upgrades, as picking up the Riot Controller (Super Shotgun Replacement) might gave me an upgrade before.  Once you get an upgrade for either one of these weapons it does more damage, but starts to waste ammo too. Other guns get upgrades as well. Many Guns are replaced with new ones in this mod. The supernailgun is gone and replaced with a plasma rifle that looks kind of like the thunderbolt. There ia a chaingun you can get when you pick up the nailgun that looks like the zerstorer one but fires less accurately and fires exploding rounds. The supershotgun can shoot explosive shells with an upgrade too.  The rocket launcher has an upgrade to turn into a multi rocket launcher, the grenade launcher has a cluster grenade upgrade, and there is a super bad looking "FAT" Lightning gun ripoff that shoots what looks like a big ball of light. I think that is supposed to be a BFG as it's fireballs death frame looks like a bfg hit from doom.  Besides that one gun the rest are fine.  I like how you can upgrade guns.

The one flaw this mod has is difficulty. It's balanced well but it's balanced like Complex Doom for Doom. It's hard as hell. Even on medium you will take TONS of damage.  It feels like complex doom done in quake. It's hard as hell and I had to use cheats to beat several maps because I could not handle the difficulty. If the easy skill would allow for enemy replacement, this mod would be better, but as it stands it needs to be improved a little in the balance department.

There are some bugs with this mod however. Gibbing enemies can sometimes prevent them from triggering death targets that must be triggered to progress, like the enforcer in that little room just beyond the gold key door in e2m1 that has a death target that opens the way to the silver key door.  In that map, I accidentally blew him up and the death target didn't fire right. Also in IKSPQ5 the death targets for at least one enforcer didn't fire right in the room that requires a group of grunts to be killed to progress to the exit teleporter.  That one however seems more like a map bug as it also happened in my Ill-fated randomizer mod too. That is a pretty serious bug and can leave levels broken bad. But besides that I could not find a bug with the mod at all. It's worth playing. Just make sure to use a fitzquake variant like MarkV or quakespasm to play this as winquake is not good enough, and dark places might run it but I can't test that now.

Doom Mod Review : Quake Style Unbound

When it comes to randomizer mods, I thought I had found all the good ones. It turned out I was wrong. Quake style is one of the big underrated ones and it spawned 2 more - quake style zx and quake style unbound. Quake style is interesting because it brought elements from quake games and wolfenstein games into doom.  Thankfully the wolf3d elements are limited to guns only, as killing tons of nazis in uac bases would be a tad out of place. But as you can see, the concept is cool.

Quake style unbound is the newest quake style randomizer mod of the bunch. It is actually by far the best, and it's so good, that I would call it the best randomizer mod ever. I thought infernal attack was that till I played 3 mods that blew IA out of the water, Hellstorm rebirth, Quake style zx and now this.

Like hellstorm rebirth before it, quake style unbound is a class based randomizer. Unlike hellstorm rebirth however, classes do not get weapons only they can use.  They start with different guns but that is about it. The mod has a lot of new guns, many of them are from other games, but not all. There are TONS, and I mean tons in this mod.  There is even an auto double barreled shotgun, a weapon only drla had before this.  A powerhouse of a weapon so good that if you get it you can cream slaughtermaps in seconds.

The weapons are all done well and many have altfires. A nice touch, like in the similar hellstorm rebirth mod.  The altfires I have not tested yet, but I know they exist.  Not all guns get them but a lot do.

Some of The new enemies are  ones from the beastiary, but unlike hellstorm rebirth you get tons of new ones on top of the beastiary ones. Many are actually from quake and quake 2, which is great. To see them you have to turn on the spawn quake monsters feature in options, but they are there and it makes this game great.

There are a whopping 15 playerclasses to choose from, including the quake guy, the doom guy, and many more. They all have new guns to start with and are really cool. I played the doom guy most but others exist.

The quake 1 and 2 enemies feature makes this thing the best randomizer ever because fighting quake 1 enemies in doom is something that doesn't happen often and usually it's limited to massive AEOD style randomizers that borrow 90% of their content from other games.  This is different, they are there to make doom a little bit less doomy. Zombies are handled well, you need to gib them just like in quake to kill them. It's a nice feature.

What is not so nice however, is the one downside this mod has. The level completion screen. The thing gives you a very annoying ranking system that punishes you for not finding secrets or items. When you play randomly generated levels, finding secrets is really hard to do. Many are very well hidden. To punish you for finding them is stupid. In one map I got 80% kills but it didn't matter because I found 0% secrets and they gave me a D rank of minamalist. Like I was bad at the game or something. Let me tell you something, you don't have to go for 100% to be good at a game, it's stupid that this is in the mod! If this feature was not in the mod I would give it a 10, but as it is it's an 8.5 now. It makes no sense to punish people for not getting a perfect tally. It reminds me of the stupid score sucks BS in scoredoom and frankly should not be there.

Anyway, if you don't mind that slight issue, I would say try out quake style unbound. It's definitely better than a lot of randomizer mods, maybe not the best but definitely a contender. Quake enemies in doom is a huge huge thing that I love.

Edit : I managed to cook up a little quake 1 themed texture replacer to play quake style unbound with - if you are a fan of quake 1 maps you will recognize the texture pack it uses (ikbase)

Download it here

here is a screenshot showing it off with randomly generated maps, make sure to generate a tech themed obaddon mapset, for it only replaces some tech textures

Doom Mod Review : Hellstorm rebirth

I'm doing a mod review of a very good randomizer mod here.  Hellstorm rebirth (not to be confused with doom - the hellstorm), is a randomizer mod released by a guy on facebook. If you search for :"hellstorm doom mod" and find the facebook page "hellstorm: a  zdoom mod"  you can download the mod there.

Having nothing in common with the phenominal hellstorm mod I reviewed recently, or the unfinished Eric Oi/Eriance mod that was in development on doomworld in the 90's, this mod is actually a lot like Doomzone, a class  based mod that has a randomized enemy feature.  If you like randomizers and like class based gameplay where each class can use specific weapons only, this mod is for you.

Having three classes, the mod introduces combat against randomized demons.  Many of the demons come from the beastiary. A few are new however.  The three classes are the rifle guy, the shotgun guy, and the energy weapons guy. Each has a specialty, machineguns/rifles for the rifle guy, shotguns for the shotgun guy and energy weapons for the energy weapons guy. Not that this specification means a whole lot, as classes who don't have a specification for a certain kind of weapon can still sometimes use those weapons.

The combat is very fun, and lots of new demons fight you. Many are from the beastiary, but some are new. I saw some new ones but none of them are really  great, but the beastiary ones are fine. However, some very good ones are commented out in the spawn lists, and that is puzzling.

The weapons are great in this mod, minus 1 glaring issue which I will get to later. Each weapon has been modded a lot to add new sounds, an altfire, and more. There are weapons from many different sources, the beastiary, demon eclipse/eriguns, drla, etc.  Many have been altered to fire different projectiles however. Some have been tweaked to be less or more powerful. Many have altfires but not all.  Some are damn powerful. The default pistol rips demons to shreds in this mod with it's secondary fire which is shotgun strength.  That is nice and that will help make some maps so easy it's not funny. It could be a great mod for slaughtermaps but more testing is needed to see if that is the case.

One glaring issue remains. The game locks up the instant you try to select the redneck rampage ripsaw gun.  That cannot be fixed easily and to me the only way to really fix it is to unbind the 1 key so you don't accidentally select it. Since it's very hard to not collect it, I suggest doing this:

make a batch file to load the mod by doing this:

take the following text line and past it into a text file and save it as a txt file and rename it to a batch file (BAT) later

gzdoom -file   hellstormv6_001a.pk3 +unbind 1

always use that batch file to load the mod and be careful not to pick up the saw thrower!
It makes it so you can't use melee weapons but it's worth it!
Since weapons don't get autoselected when picked up this helps

Besides that there is no issues, I hope no more freezes happen when enemies fight eachother or such, or else this mod may be ruined

Doom Mod Review : Alandoguns

Alandoguns is an ancient Doom Weapon Mod I found recently that I never played ever, for some strange reason.  It is a randomizer mod, one of the first randomizer mods, with tons of new guns, and some new enemies.

This mod has the reputation of being total shittiness in the community, due to that it has bad reviews up the wazzoo on idgames. But I don't think it's quite as bad as people are saying it is, sure, it rips from known sources, like the zdoom monster resource wad, other games, weapon mods by other people, etc, but to me compilation mods like this or infernal attack are fine.

I played a set of randomly generated maps in it and right away, I liked the guns. At first my favorite was the uzi, it did tons of damage for an uzi and even though it has a small clip size, it was fun to use. The weapons in this mod are the stars of the show, many many guns exist in this mod and they all have reloading built into them, which is amazing for it's time. They range from machineguns, chainguns, uzi's, shotguns of many kinds, including the riot gun from shadow warrior (not the new shadow warrior, the old one), an ice gun, and more. You will be swamped with guns in this mod, something lots of people don't like, but I don't mind it. I didn't mind infernal attacks 200 guns and I surely don't mind a mod that has tons of guns.

The enemies however is where this mod starts to be not quite as good. Some are cool, like the new zombies, the rocket soldier, the new imps, the robots that replace arachnotrons, but a LOT of monsters in this mod come from Heretic and Hexen and other games like Duke3d. I simply don't think they fit at all, so that takes some points away. I managed to patch out the heretic/hexen enemies, and that made it much better, but a patched version simply cannot be released due to technical reasons now (me running out of space on pcloud).

For some reason the mod contains a lot of new textures and has some new maps in it, it's no big deal if you load randomly generated maps after the mod and use a high-def texture pack, but I would avoid playing the original doom 2 game in this for that reason. Map04 and map05 are totally replaced and they should not be.

I don't mind this mod, and if it weren't for one feature, I would probably call it decent to bad. But this  one feature saves it. Your max health can be upgraded! Pickups that look like heretic/hexen health vials/flasks are there, and they boost your max health at the same time as healing you. This makes this mod a great choice to play with super hard maps! This mod to me then is actually quite good, just not great.  It could have been much better if it didn't have heretic/hexen enemies in it, but besides that one issue and the map04-05 replacements  it's actually not that bad.

Doom Mod Review : Doom - The Hellstorm

One thing doom really lacks is a good doom horror mod.  A mod that plays with any level and introduces horror gameplay into the game. While some people classify the original doom as horror, I don't.  The game has horror elements sure, but actual horror gameplay is not found in the original doom at all. What doom needed bad was a horror mod that introduces horror elements into the gameplay.

Well recently a doom mod entitled Doom - the hellstorm (which you can find by googling "doom hellstorm mod") was released on moddb.  This mod introduces horror elements into classic doom and does a pretty damn good job with it. After playing 2 levels that were obaddon generated with the mod, I definitely felt terror from the mod.

The first thing you will notice when playing the mod is how dark it is.  This thing is practically pitch black.  There is a flashlight, but it is not recommended to use it with obaddon maps due to the slowdown it creates.  To use the flashlight, you must unequip a gun like in doom 3 so it actually doesn't help that much.  This goes really well with the doom 3 texture replacer I found and released on the last review, the review of ultimate super doom 3.

The creepiness is brought out by the soundtrack, which is similar to the udv ambient soundtrack feature. That feature replaces the music with a quiet creepy droning in the background.  It makes the game way scarier.

Healing is handled a lot differently than in normal doom mods. Picking up a healthkit does not automatically heal you in this mod.  You have to select the healthkit by hitting the 8 key on your keyboard and that will select it and allow you to heal, but when you heal you are totally defenseless, so choose wisely when you will try to heal yourself. It takes about 15 seconds to heal yourself from 50 health so be careful.  This adds to the horror elements.

Creepy apparitions will stalk you in this mod, not limited to an alma-like one and one from the movie scream.  Every once and awhile they show up. They don't make a noise when you see them, which would have made them scarier.  Strangely missing is youtube styled screamers in the mod, but that is a bit too scary maybe.

Adding to the horror elements are respawning monsters, throughout the levels, zombies will resurrect and demons will teleport in periodically, even in maps where they should not. It gives you a lot of tension while playing, which is great. It is also quite scary, as the chanting from doom 3 that happens when monsters teleport also is played in this mod when the same thing happens.

The mod has many guns, and all of them are original guns not found in other mods, which is a plus. They include 2 or 3 new pistols,  a magnum with a glowstick selected in the other hand to light things up, several shotguns, including the doom 3 one, the doom eternal supertshotgun with a built in grapple hook,  and an automatic one, a very good assault rifle, the plasma rifle, a chaingun, the rocket launcher and more.

The mod uses mostly beastiary enemies, and that is good and all, but the lack of doom eternal enemies kind of set it back a little bit. It isn't a huge issue but it could have made it way better if dread knights, doom hunters, marauders and carcasses were in this mod.  It actually lacks a lot of enemies from doom games besides doom 3 and 64 and custom doom ones. There are doom 3 alpha zombies, complete with their "you will not escape", "hell awaits you" screamed lines recorded by Trent Reznor, and doom 3, and doom 64 imps, but a few more from doom 2016 and eternal would have helped.

Another issue is the menu, it is TERRIBLE! You cannot see what menu item is selected at all, and have to use mouse driven menu controls, when keyboard ones are far easier to use but won't work in the mod.  It kind of sucks. At first it made me annoyed. Besides that and the lack of doom eternal enemies, this thing is actually pretty good though. If you want a good doom horror mod, you really cannot go wrong with hellstorm.

Doom Mod Review : Ultimate Super Doom 3

Ultimate Super Doom 3 is one of the best total conversion gameplay mods ever made for classic doom.  It faithfully recreates the mechanics, enemies, guns and feel of Doom 3 perfectly.  Now a lot of people don't like doom 3 much, but I don't mind it, especially considering all newer doom games have stupid jumping crap thrown in.

I found this mod a long time ago searching for a doom 3 gameplay mod for zdoom. I was working on something similar but far worse.  This mod is amazing. It imports all of the enemies from doom 3 into doom/doom 2 and does the same thing with guns. Even better, it takes the stuff from the doom 3 expansion, resurrection of evil and imports them too. Being a huge fan of ROE I loved this. I got to fight bruisers and vulgars again.  And the quality of the work is quite insane considering all the sprite ripping he had to do to get the mod working right, as the mod uses sprite rips, not models to draw the new graphics.

It's one of the best mods but to really enjoy it you will need some other mods. I recommend Ultimate Doom visor for it's outdoor damage effects and darker lighting settings. I also recommend this texture replacer I found on youtube that replaces all doom 1 and 2 textures with doom 3 ones.  I also recommend some kind of ambient music pack as well. To find this mod search for it on google and click the link to moddb and download the file in files named volume 4.5

Overall this is fun as all hell.

(This screenshots was taken using an obaddon map and retexturing it with the above texture replacer, the mod itself doesn't have new textures)

Doom mod review : Doom EXP

Doom EXP or Doom Eternal EXP as it's sometimes called, is an awesome gameplay mod for classic doom made by OfficerD82.  It started as a mod where you could level up as you killed enemies and would get rewards for your levelups. But it soon morphed away from that.

Doom EXP is one of the 2 major mods for zdoom that takes features from Doom Eternal and ports them to doom 2.  Thankfully it's a gameplay mod only, so there are no pre-requisites of the mod requiring you to play specific levels to see it's features, which strips out any stupid platforming sections from gameplay (a feature that ruined doom eternal).

As you levelup, you get XP and power nodes. Your power nodes are used for buying upgrades and so is your XP. Some upgrades require power nodes, others require XP, others require both. You can upgrade your guns with altfires, get a grappling hook attached to your shotgun, install a shoulder cannon on doom guy, get the crucible.and more. You get to glory kill enemies as they stagger just like doom 2016 and eternal, and you get to finish off enemies with the doom blade from doom eternal, a nice touch.

All these feratures were set up in a way to make it obvious that this is a classic doom mod at heart. You won't see sprite rips of stuff from doom eternal for instance, it's like this was made to import ideas from doom eternal into classic doom. Besides the doom blade, the sprites for the other features are totally original.

Joining this impressive list of features are new enemies. There are several new enemies, mostly coming from the beastiary this time. But as of doom exp 2.3 there is one doom eternal enemy in the mod, the marauder. which behaves just like he did in doom eternal. This will make this mod damn challenging to some people, as marauders were the most difficult non boss enemy in that game. A lot of upgrades may be required to be purchased first before you run into this and survive!

I like this mod, it has a lot of features from doom eternal, and since my pile of crap PC can't play doom eternal, this mod will. have to do.

Doom Mod Review : Infernal Attack

Infernal Attack is a MASSIVE Doom Randomizer mod released on moddb a few years ago. It boasts 600 new enemies to fight, 200 guns, and more.  I regularly play doom with it and often mix it with nameless rpg lite so that I can enjoy tons of new enemies/guns plus rpg mechanics.

Infernal attack is quite the controversial mod, thanks to the fact that it borrowed some stuff from other mods.  The amount of mods it "steals" from is quite large, coming down to it ripping stuff from brutal doom, project brutality, Doom the roguelike arsenal, Complex Doom, Shades of Doom, Realm 667 shuffle and many others.

Despite that and despite the obvious bugginess the mod has, which I will get to later, the mod is still quite good. Not phenominal, but definitely one of the better randomizer mods out there.  There are a lot of new unique guns and enemies in it and they help make it a fresh experience, and stuff such as the complex doom guns, the drla guns, the shades of doom, hxrtc, and ream667 enemies put in one mod together, help to make it feel like a really nice compilation of great stuff in one mod,  which is needed in this day and age, where a lot of mods have unique stuff only.

It does have a big downside, it's buggy as hell. Some enemies break, others have badly set up sprites, and more. It is not too noticeable at first, but play 30 or so maps in it and you will notice it eventually. However, the whole thing being a massive ripoff, to me is quite a moot point.

Lots of people are trashing this mod.  It isn't that bad. It does take stuff from other mods but most mods do! In fact the total amount of guns I could find that I recognized from other mods, is really small compared to the total amount of guns in the mod. Only 19 or so. guns are based on other mods the rest are either realm667 stuff or original material.  Now for the enemies. Many are from other mods but not all. A lot out of that 600 are original enemies not found anywhere else, so that makes this mod less of a ripoff.

Overall infernal attack is a very cool mod, worthy of an 8/10

(offtopic) The Curse of Johan Hegg is real!

While watching the Boston Red Sox go through the playoffs 2 years ago, I decided to listen to the metal. band Amon Amarth. Not thinking of it much at the time, I just went for it and soon saw something strange happen.

While I listened to bands other than amon amarth or no bands at all, the red sox were DEAD at the plate. No hits whatsoever, or very few, at least. Such is the case of ALCS game 1 in Boston.  I wasn't listening to any bands that day and the red sox lost horribly. Then on the next night they came back and won, and I decided to try listening to Amon Amarth again. It worked in the final game of the ALDS against the Yankees, so why not I thought.

Weirdly this whole thing actually somehow affected the series. I would go through 5 albums of amon Amarth and switch over to 2 Hypocrisy cds afterward. During the Amon Cd's the red sox were total hitting machines and slaughtered their way through the opposition. During the Hypocrisy ones they did not. I jokingly called this the Curse of Johan Hegg. It was fucking weird.

I continued to Listen to Amon Amarth for all of the games in the Series and they managed to Win them all on days I listened to Amon. However It got really weird in the World Series vs the dodgers.

Against the dodgers in Game 3 of the World Series in LA, something weird happened. I was listening to Amon Amarth but it didn't work.  They lost the game in 19 innings. Next game I did the same thing and they won. Same thing the next night. Then they won the title.   I think SOMEHOW (god knows how) Amon Amarth influenced those games. It came down to such intricacy where not listening to Amon lead to them not doing well, and listening to Amon suddenly made them hitting machines most of the time.

So the next time you hear the Red Sox cheated in 2018, Blame it on Amon Amarth instead! For the curse of Johan Hegg is real!

I think some guy associated with the community is trying to troll me....

Ok, this blog post is going to get controversial, I warn you.

A long time ago some assholes from the doom community decided to try to troll me, and it was for a wad I made that they thought was terrible but the wad in question wasn't. Pretty soon hundreds of people tried to troll me over it, not limited to ones on doom community sites, but also on youtube on my old youtube channel (that I chose to shut down due to trolling), and more places like wadsinprogress and similar.

That was a long time ago. Since then I have released countless projects and tc's and things for doom.  While searching for youtube videos on a certain doom mod I didn't make that everyone else trolled as well for stealing shit, I ended up  running into a youtube channel playing one of my old, long forgotten about doom mods, a mod called "serious sam : the ultimate encounter" and I think the people in question (the channel owner and his followers) were trying to troll me.

The guy is a fucking idiot people. He actually at first tried to defend the mod I was searching for then later on shat all over it, while stuttering countless times like porky pig.  Bdeep-bdeep-bdeep that-that-that's all folks type stuttering, not minor stuttering but serious stuttering. Then he and his followers try to troll me for a mod I made that wasn't that bad.

Now the weird thing is that more people  LIKED this mod in the videos he did on it than disliked it but one person dared to say that "MOST" weapons were misaligned and the guns bullets came from the head of the character, which cannot be true, that is total BS if you ask me, yet another lame attempt by the doom community to troll my stuff. This time it was a minor thing THANK GOD, but this just shows you how stupid the doom community has become, some channel owner decides to play a mod I made that has no FUCKING DOWNLOAD LINK ANYMORE (because I deleted it due to the fact that I thought it sucked too!), and then they troll me over it even though no. one should be playing it in the first place!
It's not like I've done bad mods, I've done some damn good ones since then. But still.........

This thing was far from current, it was released around 2014 or so.  I've done tons more since then, and to see some idiot community try to troll me over it on youtube is stupid and sickening. Why do the community have to resort to such lame trolling excuses on sites associated with doom or channels Associated with doom? It boggles the mind......

Why Toonforce is Overrated, and why Bugs Bunny is not ultra powerful.

I am going to preface this blog post with this : I am writing this post not to bash Bugs Bunny. Despite what this blog post reveals to the world and what I found out about various fictional characters fighting others, Bugs is still the funniest cartoon character ever. That doesn't change at all. This was only written to try to tell people that "Toon Force" is overrated.

Toon Force, a description of the kind of super powers Cartoon Characters have that people don't, has become a point of contention in the Comic Book Fanbase. Many people are arguing that toon force is more powerful than comic book super powers, and that someone like Bugs could wipe the floor with anyone else in a 1 on 1 fight and no one can beat him.

That to me is not true.

I was actually very skeptical on this toon force thing. Toon force to me was limited to characters who might not be able to handle something as powerful as a very powerful Marvel Universe Supervillian like Beyonder, Thanos, Galactus, Etc. What I found out is that Bugs is very powerful, yet not powerful enough to be able to fight some very powerful characters from other works of fiction like Star Wars, Marvel Comics and Cthulhu Mythos.

What did I use to judge this?

Unlike others, I was not content with the idea that one character is superior and there was no way to prove that. I wanted to take it step further and test it somehow. So when I found out about this fighting game called MUGEN that allowed me to import characters from tons of works of fictions, including comic books, movies, video games, cartoons, horror novels, and more, I had to try it with that.  Soon I downloaded Mugen, and within a few hours I had setup 11-12 characters I could use to test it with.

I went with this roster.

Xenomorph from Aiien
Luke Skywalker
Bugs Bunny
Galactus from marvel comics
Iron Man from Marvel Comics
Daffy Duck
Cyberdemon and Doom Guy from Doom
Mr Spock

Soon I had changed it to:

Xenomorph from Alien
Luke Skywalker
Bugs Bunny
Galactus
Iron Man
Daffy Duck
Doom Guy
Cyberdemon
Darth Vader
Emporer Palpatine
Cthulhu
Superman

What I found out completely debunked the idea that Bugs Bunny would wipe the floor with every other character in Comic Books, etc. He did well but he still was not powerful enough to beat certain characters.

He was able to beat most of the characters he fought, including a suprise Victory over Galactus.  He had no trouble with a doom Cyberdemon, which is expected. He could beat Xenomorphs, Mr Spock, The thing, Daffy Duck, etc. But other characters gave him trouble.

Luke Skywalker gave him trouble.  Maybe it's the force, or luke's jedi fighting stance or the lightsaber combat, but something made Luke Beat Bugs easily. Next Came 2 characters who both wiped the floor with Bugs Bunny, Iron Man and Cthulhu.

Iron Man is so overpowered that bugs bunny simply never wins against him and other characters can't beat him either.  His suits missiles and laser do so much damage that they rip Bugs to shreds. His huge explosive blast is so OP that it sucks almost all of Bugs health away quickly. Bugs simply cannot win here.

And Cthulhu, turned out to be so powerful that NOTHING could beat him.

I thought it was weird that cthulhu would beat Galactus, but when I saw Cthulhu wipe the floor with Bugs Bunny, I knew something was off, but then I realized it. Cthulhu must be making his opponent go mad as he fights him! That must be it. Because Not even a team of Bugs Bunny and Iron Man could beat Cthulhu. Not even Iron Man and Galactus could do it either!

Now I don't know how much of this is badly, incorrectly or biased design of the characters that I downloaded. It could be that whoever made Iron Man, Luke Skywalker, or Cthulhu made them too powerful becasue their fanboys, but Somehow I doubt that.

Either way, this is really weird to see, and maybe it will make people who try to proclaim Bugs Bunny as an unstoppable force who roflstomps everyone think a little.

Doom Oblige Mod Review : Oblige Realm667 mod

Ok, this will be the last doom mod review you will see here. I am going throgh a phase where I have to do other things in my life and won't have time to blog. It's a long story. But anyway, during that phase I will be playing the shit out of this mod. Oblige realm667 mod is an oblige mod that modifies oblige 7.70 to put in realm667 enemies  and guns by default. It's a pretty cool mod with one major issue - difficulty. Besides that it's fine.

Oblige realm667 mod is a great mod to pair with obaddon. It comes with obaddon installed in it's subfolder and it's recommended to play with that enabled.  It also comes with the two mods needed to play with when launching doom, realm667.pk3 and realm667_weapons.pk3.  These two mods contain the new enemies and weapons found in the mod, and are a must to play doom with because without them it wouldn't work. So copy those two files to doom's folder from the subfolder the mod launches in and then run them by typing gzdoom -file realm667.pk3 realm667_weapons.pk3 random .wad where random.wad is your randomly generated wad.

I recommend playing with the newest beta version of obaddon instead of the one given out by this thing. For one it fixes TNT and Plutonia support, and that's important to me. I play with plutonia by default and now that makes doom a lot more fun to see plutonia textures in doom now. Just install it and zip up the src folder in the download zip from github found under clone or download and rename the zip to pk3 and install into your oblige_realm667 folder.

Anyway, the one issue I have with this thing is difficulty. It throws in some OBSCENELY hard enemies into the mix, and some can be a dealbreaker.  One in particular spawns tons of imps everywhere and is really annoying in slaughtermaps, another is a fucking pain in the ass archvile replacement that shoots homing insta-death ghosts ar you. Not exactly the most balanced mod out there.

Still fun  but needs to be improved. You can download the mod through the description of this youtube video.

My Solo Artist does a concept album based on the game Clive Barker's Undying

I am a huge fan of the game clive barker's undying, it helped to introduce me to horror games back in 2003 or so. Since then I have played tons more so it was only fitting that my solo project, unleashing vengeance did a concept album on clive barker's undying.

The Concept album, called the Undying Curse, tells the story of the protagonist Patrick Galloway as He fights undead creatures and undead possessed siblings haunting a old friends manor.  The songs follow the story very well, and start where the intro starts and go into the end cutscene.

The style of the album is blackened thrash metal, a mix of the 2013 styled unleashing vengeance and newer black metal stuff. It has black metal vocals like newer stuff, but has the guitar melodies of older unleashing vengeance mixed in with black metal. It's a good hybrid cd mixing old and new sounds together.

I composed the music last night at insistence of a friend of mine who wanted to hear one more unleashing vengeance.  It was his idea to mix 2013 and 2020 unleashing vengeance together.  It took about an hour and a half to build the music to the cd, and mix the instruments together.  I did the vocals around 3 AM last night right in the middle of the tropical storm In Massachusetts. I was lucky it didn't fuck it up!

I am very satisfied with the cd and I think it came out great, you can download it here

Why Do Video Upload Sites have to suck?

Video Uploading sites suck. First youtube and it's stupid dislike bot problem. I got an unleashing vengeance song disliked on youtube and I didn't even upload the fucking video, some stupid copyright infringing leecher did!  But you think that is bad.

I have been trying to look for a DECENT video upload site. Dailymotion worked for a while, then my channel got shut down with a BOGUS copyright complaint. Then I found sendvid. That was good for a while then recently, the mods started to randomly delete my videos only hours after uploading, so I left in disgust. So I went back to dailymotion and they worked fine for a while then I had a problem where no upload on my end would work.

Then sendvid was tried again, and AGAIN they kept on deleting my uploads only hours after posting them. Like they don't like my atuff at all and keep on trying to fuck with me.

I wish the government would get involved. Video uploading platforms censor their users way too much it seems. They should not be allowed to! My stuff was NOT copyright infringing on sendvid. And I would have to go through their fucking stupid waiting lines to re-upload so it's a pain in the ass. It sucks to be given problems like this on video upload sites.

It's getting out of hand. Government needs to step in and make these sites liable for doing shit like this.

Doom 2 Wad Epic2 Fan Theory : You die in map20 and are in an egyptian afterlife called Amenthes

Epic2 is a fantastic Doom 2 wad made by Alexander S a long time ago and it has one of the most weird plot twists a wad has in it's story.  The wad has an egyptian themed mapset, and has many of the same styled levels as serious Sam.  While most of the textures are from powerslave and sock this time around, the similarity remains.

What I am about to talk about is the scripted death in map20 in epic 2. By this point the levels go completely alien in theme, and no longer have an egyptian theme.  It stays that way for a while while you battle aliens/demons in techbases from map12-20.  By map20 you end up in a very fucked up level called anomaly zone and your sudden death at the end of the level has always puzzled me.

The next level has you wake up in an egyptian setting again, but something has changed.  You have no recollection on how you got to this level (map21 - shore dream), and it appears you are dreaming the events in this level. But the real truth may be a lot more fucked up.

The fan theory has some evidence to back it up this time and that evidence is mostly found in the level titles of level 30 ("amenthes" and level 27"ammut".  I looked up the meaning of the level title of level 30 first and it gave me a hint.

Amenthes is the egyptian afterlife that resembles the real world, that people had to go through to prove their worth to be able to be judged as being pure enough to be one with the sun god Ra.  In the ritual, Anubis would judge the dead by weighing their souls vs the feather of truth and justice. If heavier than the feather, they would be eaten alive by the demon Ammit who also is called Ammut. If Lighter they would be able to go to the egyptian version of paradise.

What if your character dies in level 20 and level 21-30 respresent the challenges a soul had to face in amenthes? You would have to fight various demons in amenthes if you died.  In level 27 you end up facing the demon ammut, which turns out to be a massive demon shaped room filled with revenants. It is apparent that after this part you weren't weighed well and could not enter paradise, so you end up having a massive boss fight with Set at the end of the game.

There is lots of evidence that you're dead past map21.

a) the enterance to the 21'st level has no gate to show you entered it normally.

b) there is a new kind of gate for level exits in level 21-30

c) you can see your body in map29 and 30

That means in map21-30 you are dead and you are in the egyptian afterlife amenthes!

It's a weird fan theory but it has some evidence to back it up this time. The combination of levels named after parts of the afterlife in egyptian mythology, plus the weird start to map21, plus the new gates plus your dead body being seen in map29 and 30 is enough proof to me.

Heretic Mod Review : Hexeretic Fantasy

I found what might be the best damn heretic mod ever people. This thing is amazing.

Hexeretic fantasy is a mod for heretic that is a randomizer mod made by the author of HXRTC. Like HXRTC it takes enemies/weapons/items from the original game and randomly rteplaces the with new ones. Like HXRTC you get gold you can use to buy items from randomly "dropped" traders.  Unlike HXRTC this thing is for heretic, and it may be the best damn mod to play heretic with.

It does more than replace enemies and weapons randomly. It makes your character have a lot more health than he had in heretic 1.  He now can carry health that keeps on being upgraded each time you level up. Levelups, although rare, are useful, because they boost your max health.  Your character can also run faster and jump higher, which helps when dealing with the new enemies you will deal with in this mod.

Speaking of enemies, this mod excels in it's new enemy types. A lot are not ones you would normally see from other mods, being a lot more original than other randomizer mods like heretic plus, because they are totally original this time, a lot of them are at least not taken from the realm 667 beastiary.  There are also HEXEN enemies as well, which make sense.  And all the enemies that are not original, like the few beastiary enemies and the hexen enemies, have been altered in some way, whether it is to give them new sounds, or new attacks, or whatever.

There are a lot of new weapons in the mod too, and many of them are original this time. A few are from other sources, but most of them are new to heretic.  You get 5 gazillion new crossbows, a lot of magic wands, and more in this mod.

Anyway, I recommend playing heretic with this mod, it's a lot of fun, and not a lot of people have done plythroughs of it on youtube, which sucks, so check it out!

Announcing "Sippy Juice Slaughter" - A NEW Heretic Slaughtermap wad

I am working on a new heretic slaughtermap wad, called "Sippy Juice Slaughter" (weird title but still this thing is gonna be nasty as hell). Sippy Juice is a LP'ers nickname for the quartz flask and I decided to call the wad this because I have been watching a lot of the LP videos done by this guy. Hence the title.

Sippy Juice Slaughter contains 9 new levels for heretic or doom 2 wrath of cronos, depending on the version you play.  If you want to play it with heretic load the sjsep.wad in heretic. If you want to load the wrath of cronos version load loadhtic.bat from my previous download with sjsd2.wad loaded in it, aka loadhtic sjsd2 in a dos prompt.

The levels are designed to be hard as fuck this time.  I made these in a version of  oblige's obaddon that supports heretic and designed them to have hell revealed style gameplay.  It is hard as hell. and might be too hard for heretic, but I hope it isn't insanely hard, because I had issues beating the first map as a fighter, so I suggest people play this with the hunter class in wrath of cronos. It's the only class that can handle it so far.

The maps are balanced and have plenty of "sippy juice" (health potions) in them.  Hence the title. The map use hakers legacy textures heavily and should work fine in heretic in zdoom. This does require zdoom to play thanks to the bakers legacy textures.  Enjoy.

New Heretic Slaughtermap "Heretic Revealed" Done! FIRST OF IT'S KIND!

I've been playing heretic since it came out, and it's gotten lots of levels made for it. Many many mapsets exist, and many of them are good, some even push the difficulty in nasty directions. But the one thing it has not gotten is a real test of difficulty. That's why I made an absolute insanely hard mapset for it called heretic revealed.  Heretic revealed (named after Hell Revealed) is a Slaughtermap wad for heretic! First of it's kind!

Not satisfied with how heretic maps push difficulty, I wanted to do something totally. nuts to blow them out of the water in pure difficulty. So I made this mapset. It's a modified randomly generated mapset this time and it has 9 new levels, replacing episode 1 of heretic.   Rather than make levels that are long and complicated, I chose to make short, hard maps this time with tons of powerups and ammo in them, and put liberal tomes in later maps due to tons of iron liches being used. Later on Tons of Maulotaurs get used, one map has 10 in one room!  It's totally nuts, and the final boss map is especially fucked up.

Not satisfied with having only one d'sparil in my boss map, I decided to put 8 fucking d'sparils in!  Might be a bit overkill, but his army of iron liches should help killing, I mean helping the player. If you kill them you get maulotaur overkill (what I call the 10 in one room fight).  So It's best to kill the liches and run to the exit. It's the easiest way to do it. I'm not sure if doing it the hard way is doable. It might not be. But it would not be heretic revealed without insane difficulty, so who gives a fuck.

I decided to make a doom 2 version of the wad as well, so people could play it with wrath of cronos's monster pack like I do. That was easy, I've converted many heretic maps to doom 2 before and it's real easy to do.  All you need is a heretic to doom 2 texture wad and set up a script file to convert things, simple as it can be.

Download the wad and the doom 2 port here. Enjoy!

(Off Topic Rant) There are too many trolling videos on youtube

Trolling is very common on youtube these days, and their terms of service simply allow it, and there is nothing they will do to block such stupid trolling videos. Trolling comes in many forms on youtube but for the most part, you get a lot of stupid (insert game/mod/levelset) sucks type of videos. These videos are clearly trolling attempts. The people who put them out rely on a lot of personal attacks and bullshit criticism. They often make up ridiculous claims to support why the game/mod/levelset they are trashing is bad, and it leads to a lot of nonsense on their part.

People make a living on youtube pushing out tons of trolling videos. I know 2 people who troll "bad" doom wads on youtube regularly, and their stuff is not taking down at all. Simply youtube search "crappy doom wad" to find such videos.   Many of these videos are attempts at trolling. I dealt with someone on youtube trying to post a trolling filled reaction video to a video saying the community was trolling people for making wads that "suck".. It lead to  more trolling on why my wad sucked by the guy, and no matter how much I tried to get it taken down due to defamation, youtube would not act to stop the rampant trolling on their platform. Even then the guy didn't quit, soon afterward he posted addendums to his video calling my wad, a "wad abomination" and kept on doing more crappy wad video's on youtube. They turned their blind eye to this kind of behavior and it sickens me.

But to think that this stupid troll is the only one doing the trolling, you would be wrong.  Many people post crappy wad videos, and they do the same thing as this guy a lot of the times, and still most of this stuff is allowed to go onto youtube. I've seen bullshit filled "vine" videos talking about "crappy doom wads" too which annoy me. More trolling.  It needs to stop.

But crappy wad videos are not the only kind of youtube trolling videos I see. I once saw a guy rant about how serious sam is a shitty game series due to it's cheap difficulty and other bullshit reasons. His video was clearly trolling yet youtube let it stay there and still it has not been removed. There are people who regularly post trolling videos on youtube attacking shit they should not be able to get away with and their videos are not taken down due to the lack of a trolling guideline in the community guidelines.  Youtube needs to implement one on their platform now!

Community guidelines needs an overhaul to include trolling as something that should not be allowed. Videos designed to troll such as "crappy wad videos" need to lead to community guidelines shutdowns on youtube.  Not just Porn and spam but that crap too. Too many people post trolling filled crappy wad videos and they can get away with them because of a lack of a trolling guideline on community guidelines.   It needs to stop, too many people have been victims of such bullshit before to allow this trend to continue, youtube!

Doom Mod Review : Serious Doom

There are 3 mods with the name Serious Doom Now, Serious Doom can be either A) A levelset made for doom with serious sam gameplay, B) A serious sam mod with doom eternal features or C) A serious Sam Themed Mod For Zdoom with enemies and guns from serious sam replacing ones from doom - This is not counting the not so good serious doom : the simple encounter mod

We are reviewing Serious Doom, the doom total conversion mod today, the one I marked with C)

Serious Doom is similar enough to serious Doom : The Simple Encounter which I reviewed earlier. Unlike that mod however, this one contains No new levels and is recommended to be played with egyptian levels. I recommend playing it with randomly generated egyptian maps or Epic 2.

Serious Doom imports almost all the enemies in serious sam first encounter and second encounter into doom plus the guns from both games. The only enemies missing are the ones that are too big to fit in doom maps like giant fire elementals, reptiloid highlanders/highlanders brides, and Ugh Zahn at his true size. Everything else is there, from headless guys, to grunts from second encounter, to gnaars, to kamikaze's, to kleers and werebulls, to witch harpies, the list goes on

The guns are actually kind of good in this, doing lots of damage to the enemies, being more OP than doom guns, and the enemies are quite challenging in this mid. If you find the download for it on zdoom.org you can download that version, but why do that when I made a better version anyway?

I altered it once again to play with randomly generated maps, and added a texture replacer, plus new enemies, one liners and new music from serious sam : first encounter.  Currently the only themes you have are egyptian  but that is fine to me. As with serious doom : the simple encounter you end up having to turn the music volume down to 0.15 to hear the one liners.  To load the mod with randomly generated maps load the loadss.bat (wad name) where (wad name) is the randomly generated wad you want to play, it will load with egyptian textures. I recommend obaddon as usual for this, make sure to make tech maps with armaetus texture pack turned off.   Colored lighting is recommended to be turned on. The batch file however, won't load ambient sound pk3's so don't turn them on, they sound bad with egyptian levels anyway.

(RANT) Weather.gov pisses me off

So I go to bed last night, and like usual during the summer, I have to check the weather for my area. In case you already know this, thunderstorms are your worst enemy as a a pc user.  NO Surge surpressor on earth can block a lightning strike to your pc. Hell it's not needing to even hit your PC, just your power cable and then BAM, Dead Computer. So I need to know right then Exactly what hours thunder is going to hit the next day and plan accordingly.

It doesn't help when sites like accuweather (that claim to be more accurate than the rest), and weather.com keep on saying thunderstorms every hour during the day so I use weather.gov.  They write the forecasts and you think they would be accurate. So they say thunder from 2 PM to 5 PM last night.  I shut off my PC, wrote a note to say turn it on after dinner, and unplugged it and went to bed.

Early this afternoon I waited patiently while severe thunder wen't by.  Not expecting any more thunder this day beyond 5 PM I turned it on. But lo and behold, they changed the fucking forecast today. Instead of ACCURATE Forecasts given last night, they decided to give me crappy ones last night that sucked. They changed it to Thunder from 2 to 8 PM tonight, and now I had to endure several hours of turning my PC on and hoping thunder would not hit, because they could not give me accurate forecasts. So they said severe thunder from 2 PM to 8 PM, so I thought, once it hits 8 it would be done right?

Wrong

Dead Fucking Wrong

They changed it to 2 to 9 PM 5 minutes later, then changed it to 2 to 10 PM 5 minutes after that, like they could not give you accurate forecasts in advance for the life of them. For someone who wants accurate ones the night before, this just pissed me off. The night before they said 2 to 5 Pm! Not 2 to 10 PM!  It's like they could not do accurate forecasts.

So I did what I normally do : Check weather.com radar images and their future display which predicts what weather will hit said NO rain, nevermind thunder.

So An hour later I log back into weather.gov, and this time they said Severe Thunder from 9:30 PM to 10:15 Pm!  And not just a watch but a warning, and all of the sudden they added it like they could not add it again. The damn forecast last night said 2 to 5 PM again!  They could not accurately do it for the life of them! I know weather forecasts are not an exact science, but Common!  They shouldn't be THIS inaccurate!  I had to shut down the PC 2 FUCKING TIMES in 1 day to avoid the thunder, which happeend again tonight!

They need to work on their thunderstorm forcecasts during the summer, because this is fucking stupid. When you get a forcecast that is not accurate 24 hours ahead of time it's not good. Why could they not forecast 2 - 10:15 PM last night? What made them have to change things over and over again and not just forecast it with some really accurate method and stick to it!  What's really annoying is that these sites will also occasionally give you forecasts that are totally inaccurate and you will get thunder when they didn't even forecast it! It's bad, they can/t forecast for shit and I am sick and tired of it!

Doom Mod Review : Serious Doom : The Simple Encounter and SDSE V2

Anyone who plays doom Should Know about the Serious Sam games. Looking for a doom mod like serious sam made me only find the badly designed retro encounter and things like that. I made my own but it sucked so I needed something similar, and I came across This gem, serious doom : the simple encounter on moddb one day.

Serious Doom the simple encounter is a mod that has a lot of (badly designed) new levels.  But besides that it looks promising, it has enemies and guns from serious sam ported to doom, and they are pretty nicely done.  The enemies sprites are mostly taken from retro encounter as are the weapon sprites.

The levels, however, are not that good. Some are ok,  but most are terrible.  Very few are good. So I did something to improve the mod. I made my own submod for it that includes the following new features"

A) Support for randomly generated maps
B) Tech theme texture replacer for doom maps built in with egyptian textures mostly, and some ones from hexen II thrown in because it fits.
C) RPG Elements like the ability to buy ammo, stat upgrades, and credits given as you level up
(taken from my generic rpg mod)
D) Serious Sam : First Encounter Music imported in and Serious Sam One liners
(Make sure to turn the music volume to 0.15 to hear the one liners - they are kind of quiet)

Extract the file you can find here to your doom 2 folder and run loadss.bat (wad name) to play said randomly generated wad in serious Doom.

I like how it came out. The maps look great, the enemies look cool, I even added some new ones, the weapons work right, and with the cybernetic abilities you can do things like speed up weapon fire rate, heal yourself, regen health and more. It is fun, more fun then serious sam is! I like it more anyway. I ended up spamming the ability to buy ammo, and boosted my max health/damage resistance and movement speed a lot and then just used the tommygun and when I ran out I just bought more ammo. When using shotguns I used the ability to double the fire rate.  It is a lot of fun with randomly generated doom maps with hell revealed 2 difficulty.  Enjoy.

EDIT : I made a new version of the SD Mod I did based on serious Doom this time, not simple encounter, and you can download it here, it's much better than it was before because serious doom has everything serious sam had and more yet serious doom : the simple encounter did not so check it out

(off topic) The Hypocrisy of adblocker whining

By Now you should have known about adblocker whining - the practice of locking you out of sites that hate adblockers by the website builders.  These sites Piss me off.  Many of them exist, forbes.com does this and so do many "news" sites. If it's a news site, you can be guaranteed, they will whine about you using an adblocker, and bitch about it till you whitelist them in your adblocker and let their fucking ads through.

But don't fall for that crap, for there is a GOOD reason to use an adblocker these days - malvertising. Malvertising, the practice of putting scripts in ads that download malware onto people's computers. This malware is something you want to avoid, so never ever run without an adblocker installed.

But what really pisses me off is these websites that let ads into their website, and they get around web blockers, and when malware ends up in their ads, they do NOTHING, to stop it.  They don't even scan for malware in their ads, and they force their ads through so your adblocker can't block them.  They simply don't care about the security of their users.

Sites like fieplanet fall into this category. They ran an ad that had ransomware downloading through it last night and I got hit.  I wish these people would actually test their shit for malware, because It's getting fucking stupid when adblockers can't block their shit and their shit becomes infested with bad malware.

People, if you ever go to the internet, DON'T go to fileplanet or similar sites that allow ads to go through despite you using adblockplus.  Don't let these sites determine how secure your computer will be, just avoid the following sites

forbes.com
(many other news sites)
yahoo mail
fileplanet

just stay safe and don't go to sites that demand you whitelist their ads, it isn't safe to do that and you could end up with ransomware.

I just got a ransomware infection and I think I got it from fileplanet

Gamers beware, fileplanet is no longer safe. Fileplanet, a site you can download free mods, and things of that sort for video games, is not safe like it used to be. I was browsing on fileplanet and trying to download a serious sam mod when some nasty ransomware infected my PC.

It encrypted my photos folder (where I had a few photos but most were in another folder), and some spreadsheet documents. My newly installed malwarebytes anti-ransomware stopped it dead before it could encrypt more.  Whatever you do DO NOT go to fileplanet anymore, It is unsafe now.

I had a full sandboxie sandbox running and it got through that people, so keep that in  mind. I am just trying to see if it encrypted more, I checked my doom folder and music collection and they are fine. I also ran antivirus scans, and looked at my running processes with comodo killswitch an it seemed good.

This is a warning to people that ransomware CAN and will come through ads. Fileplanet had tons of ads and adblock plus could not find eny of them and they got through.  Ads deliver malware these days, and if you don't run a good adblocker you will get infected a lot from ad intensive sites. I am pretty sure that's how I got the ransomware in question, and I am glad malwarebyres blocked it.

Amway, that is it for now, I will give you guys and update soon to tell you what else has happened on my PC since then.

On the alleged "Wanna Be Friends" Hack on youtube

I've been following this youtube related situation for a while, looking at videos about it, and finding people online that can explain it well, and it always seems like there are people, who flat out believe this comment bot hack is real, yet there are very few people dismissing it.

I am in the middle, I simply don't think that responding to comments that say "wanna be friends" can get you hacked, for that to work, youtube would have to have the nastiest backdoor on the internet now, and I don't think google would let it go unpatched.  IF google had let youtube have such a bad backdoor into it's code, you'd think they would fix it. They've said nothing about it, which makes me think there is nothing to the allegation that simply replying or liking comments from a spam bot would get you hacked.

But subscribing to a channel made by a bot might be different people. You can embed malware in images people, look up malvertising. It's still possible to loose your channel if you're logged in if you go to the bot's channel, and definitely going to the bod channels discord link could get you hacked, you have to sign in with your google credentials, and they can read that shit, so don't do either for now.

I'm still investigating this people, to see if this spambot hack is real. My main "source" for this is a guy who does videos on smapbots. He has already properly ascertained who is behind the spam bots.  A hacker with 3 laptops is posting bots with three different account names. He is claiming people are giving him channels to log into for him to use, which is fishy. If he is really hacking channels, he must be doing it from malware infested bot channels or through discord. I suggest people avoid going to bot channels from now on because that can get you hacked.

Overall, this is a weird story so far, and not all of it has come out yet, the guy who is doing it is known, but for security reasons I am not mentioning it here now, for security reasons. But just be careful people, you don't know what is happening, I can't even tell if people are REALLY getting their channels hacked people, I do know the bot channels are all hacked channels, and my source proved that to me.  But the allegation that "THOUSANDS of channels. are hacked by a comment being liked" has no proof online, really.  So be careful, just in case it is true,  but don't believe everything that you hear, either!

I will keep an  eye on this for a while. I will watch videos from my source and will report to you what I find, and tell you if it is really true that you can get hacked this way, but for now, I doubt it.  It seems to difficult to implement it on youtube now. I am never logged into google for security reasons when I view youtube, so I am fine, but people might want to do that from now on, just incase the hack theory is true.

(Off Topic) The Shit that got hacked and who I think did it

A long, long time ago, I did a video on youtube that was controversial. This was before I switched over to dailymotion. This video dealt with trolling from gaming communities, and this got a certain gaming community pissed at me for trying to expose their trolling of me for making bad maps for a game I won't name.

Soon afterward I got a lot of email accounts associated with things I did on youtube hacked.  First an email associated with a metal music channel got hacked.  I had to break into it using the forgot password option.  It was suspicious as fuck then people.

Fastforward to 2016 and later.  I had been making facebook pages for my solo artists and I had gotten somewhat big due to that. Don't look for them now. They don't exist. Some idiot in 2017 hacked my facebook next.

Soon I saw a business page page get created that had included all my facebook pages as assets, including blogs, bands, etc.  It was suspicious as fuck, and I didn't want my parents or family members to know about this.  So I deleted the page, soon It went up again though, and I know right there I was hacked. I complained to facebook over it and asked them to terminate my account. Some fucking idiot script kiddy had gained access. It pissed me off so much that I tried to re-create facebook pages but they kicked me off, thinking I am a hacker. Whoever was trying to hack my facebook was trying to monetize my own pages and music for himself. And I think I know who did this.

Enter Troll A. Troll A is a fucking idiot who had trolled me for making bad maps on a youtube video you can find by searching for a wad name I made which I will not mention what it's called to protect me. To put it bluntly, this guy is a total asshole troll on youtube.  And He once bragged about hacking someone's social media. I put two and two together and now want to say I think he hacked my facebook. I had friends there, and he fucked it up

Since then 3 more suspicious hackings have happened of yahoo email addresses that I was using, including my primary one.  I lost access to all 3 suddenly and the passwords refused to work. I think He might have some hacker friends, because things I own keep on getting hacked.  I can't even access these accounts and they were used to access youtube channels, soundcloud accounts and more.  It's fucking suspicious and I think this guy might be trying to fuck with me horribly.

I emailed yahoo through my current email and tried to tell them my old email was compromised and to send me a way to shut it down through my current email, but they haven't replied to me at all.  As of yet the only emails I have are the one associated with this blog and another on gmail now  I hope nothing like this happens again....

Introduction to my free FPS Game Series, Onslaught (1-3)

Onslaught is a game series I have developed since 2009 that is based on an idea that me and a friend had for a FPS game back in 1995. The idea was something we wanted to give to a gaming company back then. Over time our idea got so complex and had too many concepts thrown in on it that it became impossible to do so because the format was wrong in our design document, and we decided to quit.

Since 2009 I have been trying to build Onslaught as a standalone game.   At first It was a doom mod only, but was not that good.  Later on it got better, but didn't really get good till 2019.  By then the random map generators I was using had gotten so good, that making a real game with great design was possible. It wasn't possible at first. I relied on random map generators because I suck at mapping.  I am ok at scripting though, and even though I based the ideas on realm667 enemies/weapons, I did  alter at least a few of them to be more like our idea.

The Concept for the game is post apocalyptic. You play as a cyborg mercenary named bastard, who is half man, half machine, and is a metalhead, musical taste wise.  This basically makes him turn into a total badass that fights this insane cult that is threatening to end the world using nuclear weapons and mutations created in labs. That's where the enemies come in, they are absolutely nasty, and they require special "cyborg powers" to be effectively used to survive.

With the prsss of a key, you can trigger cyborg powers such as movment speed boost, health regen and temporary invulnerability.  These can help you survive the hard fights, the games use, that devolve the combat into slaughterfest gameplay.  By the end of Onslaught 1, the game becomes a slaughterfest and onslaught II and III really use them often.

The game is developed with free to use content from the doom engine, including free to use sprites and textures, free to use weapons and enemies and such. The Music and some sounds have been done by me. The voice of bastard, is my doing as well. He says a lot of one liners, which are funny.  Overall, this game/tc ius really fun and should be played if you like doom.
